The Sailor Senshi are a team of teenage girls who are superheroines that defend the world from the Dark Kingdom. The Inner Senshi are the first five senshi: Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus. The Outer Senshi are those representing the outer planets: Sailor Saturn, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto. Most go to Juuban Junior High except Rei, Minako, Hotaru, Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna. Rei attends T*A Girls Private Academy, Minako attends Shibakouen Junior High, and Hotaru, Haruka, and Michiru attend Mugen Gakuen. Setsuna does not attend school. Later in Sailor Stars the school they attend is Juuban High and Minako joins them. They are all friends and help each other fight the Dark Kingdom villains and youma.
Their main enemies in the first season are the four generals Jadeite, Nephryte, Zoisite, and Kunzite, who work under the high-ranking Queen Beryl, who is promised rule of the universe as soon as the Dark Kingdom is released. In order to take over the universe, the Dark Kingdom must acquire the Ginzuishou (a large, silver crystal). To acquire the Ginzuishou, they must collect the individual Nijizuishou (smaller crystals) which will form the Ginzuishou, which had once trapped the Dark Kingdom inside and sent them to Earth.
When Sailormoon has possession of the Ginzuishou she is able to become Princess Serenity, who is able to use the full power of the Ginzuishou to destroy the Dark Kingdom. When she destroys the Dark Kingdom, she also dies because those who use the full power of the Ginzuishou die, like her mother, Queen Serenity, who used the power to send the court of the Moon Kingdom and the Dark Kingdom to Earth in order to save the inhabitants of the Moon Kingdom. However, Princess Serenity is reborn due to the fact that she has a star seed inside, as do all the senshi, which allows them to be reborn. And so, the Sailor Senshi are here to save Crystal Tokyo defend and the World form the Dark Kingdom and any other evils that pose a threat.

Sailor Moon is the leader of the Sailor Senshi, and is also Princess Serenity, daughter of Queen Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, as we find out in the first season. Her real name is Tsukino Usagi, and her dubbed name is Serena. She is a klutz and a whiner, but she gets braver as the series progresses. She does horribly in school, and she also likes to eat A LOT. During the first season she has a major crush on Mokomi and Tuxedo Kamen, until she discovers that Chiba Mamoru is also Tuxedo Kamen and Prince Endymion of Earth, her lost love. She also likes to eat A LOT.
Sailor Mercury was the first Sailor Senshi to join Sailor Moon in her fight against the Dark Kingdom. Her real name is Mizuno Ami, and her dubbed name is Amy Anderson. She is a genius and is always studying. She is not really interested in boys, but does have a crush on a boy named Greg (Japanese name?) in the first season.

Sailor Mars was the next Sailor Scout to join. Her real name is Hino Rei, and her dubbed name is Raye Hino. She has a major crush on the college student Chiba Mamoru in the beginning of the first Season, until the senshi discover his true identity. Later she crushes on a guy named Yuuichirou who comes to work in Hikawa Jinja, her grandfather's temple. The feeling is mutual from him (he likes her also), but they sometimes dont act it. Rei doesn't attend Juuban Junior High, her school is T*A Private Girls' Academy.
Sailor Jupiter came in next. She was a transfer student to Juuban Junior High, apparently kicked out of her old school for fighting. Her real name is Kino Makoto, and her dubbed name is Lita. Mako loves to fight and is always ready to protect her friends. She is boy crazy and always has a new crush.
Sailor Venus was the last of the Inner Senshi to join the Sailor senshi. Her real name is Aino Minako, or Mina for short. Her dubbed name is also Mina. She is originally from Japan, but she was an exchange student to London. While she was there she was doing gymnastics and landed on top of a white, talking cat named Artemis. He told her that she was Sailor V and her mission was to defend Earth. Sailor V was made into an action hero and her character was made into comics, movies, and a video game. Mina likes to flirt as well. Her long blonde hair is her best feature, and she always wears a red bow in her hair.

Sailor Saturn's real name is Tomoe Hotaru. Her weapon is a powerful glaive. It is a long stick with a curved blade at one end. Hotaru's real age is unknown due to the fact that she is always dieing and then being reincarnated. She is the youngest of the senshi (aside from Chibi-usa) because of this. She and Chibi-usa are good friends. Her father is Professor Tomoe, who sells his soul to bring Hotaru back to life and then becomes possessed by an evil power. He transforms some of the senshi into evil forms, including Hotaru herself. She first appeared as the evil Mistress 9. After her defeat she revealed herself to the Senshi as Sailor Saturn. Hotaru goes to Mugen Gakuen High School and likes to read. She likes collecting lamps and dolls. She also has the unique ability to heal but is very weak and must be careful with her powers. She traded in some of her strength for the power. She doesn't have many friends at school because the other kids think her power is gross since she has to put her hand on the wound to heal it.

Sailor Uranus's real name is Tenou Haruka. She and Sailorneptune have a close relationship. Haruka was raised by her father to be very boyish. She has many male qualities. She even wears a boy's school uniform. Haruka has the Space Sword Talisman, one of three talismans that when joined together can destroy the world. She owns a motorcycle and enjoys racing. She also likes flirting, playing the piano, and teasing girls. She especially enjoys teasing Usagi, worse than Rei even. She is willing to sacrifice herself and her partner (Sailorneptune) for their mission to stop the Silence from coming. Her hair is sandy blonde, her fuku is blue and gold, and her favourite colour is gold.

Sailor Neptune's real name is Kaiou Michiru. She is very smart and is very good at playing the violin and painting. She is kind but also very competitive. She has the Aqua Mirror Talisman. Michiru has a very deep and strong relationship with Sailoruranus. Her hair is sea green, her fuku is dark sea green, and her favourite colour is green.
Sailor Pluto's real name is Meiou Setsuna. Setsuna is shrouded in mystery. Not much is known about her, and her only friends are Usagi and Chibi-usa. Chibi-usa affectionately calls her Puu. This is interesting because the periodic table of elements symbol for Plutonium is Pu. She is the gatekeeper of time and is secretly in love with King Endymion. She enjoys shopping and sewing. She has possesion of the Garnet Orb Talisman in her staff. Uranus and Neptune search for it to complete a mission. Once Setsuna sacrificed her life to stop time to save the senshi but was brought back by Neo Queen Serenity. Her hair is dark green, her fuku is dark green and blue, and her favourite colour is dark red.
Tuxedo Kamen's true identity is Chiba Mamoru. His dubbed indentity is Tuxedo Mask and his dubbed name is Darien. He is actually Prince Endymion of Earth. But I should start at the beginning. He is the mysterious, handsome figure who always appears in the senshi's time of need. Later it is discovered that he is Chiba Mamoru, a young college student attending Azabu Institute of Technology. He is always teasing Usagi. Then he finds out that he is Prince Endymion of Earth and that Usagi is the Moon Princess Serenity, his true love from long ago on the Moon Kingdom. They are brought together by the evil general Zoisite. Later it is also discovered that the four Generals once served the prince and after their death they still speak to him in spirit form through some magic stones that Mamoru has possession of.
Sailor Chibimoon's real name is Chibi-usa. Her dubbed name is Rini. Her uniform is pink and she attends Mintao-ku Juuban Elementary School. Her hairstyle models Usagi's but her meatballs look more like cones. She is very aggressive and usually bratty. She is introduced when she drops in on one of Usagi and Mamorus' dates. She drops out of the sky from the future Crystal Tokyo. Her mission is to find her mother and to find the Imperium Silver Crystal in order to save her mother. She uses her Luna Ball and a little key she wears on a chain around her neck to time travel. Mamoru feels a strange connection with Chibi-usa, but Usagi hates her, and the feeling is mutual. Usagi blames Chibi-usa when she and Mamoru break up, though the real reason is that Mamoru fears something horrible will happen to Usagi if they stay together because of a dream he has. Later it is learned that she is the future daughter of Mamoru and Usagi. Then the Black Moon Family turns her into the evil Black Lady, but Tuxedo Kamen and Sailor Moon save her and change her back. Eventually she returns to the past to train to be a Sailor Senshi.
The three cats are Artemis, Diana, and Luna.
Luna is a black cat with a little crescent moon on her forehead. She is the first cat to appear, and she explains the mission to Usagi when the Dark Kingdom tries to take over the world. She is the sensible one, and has to watch after and train Sailormoon to be a Sailor Senshi.
Artemis is the second cat to appear. He is a white cat also with a little crescent moon on his forehead. He appears along with Sailorvenus near the end of the first series. He is sensible also, but a little silly and sometimes less serious than Luna.
I don't know much about Diana, but she is a little grey kitty also with a crescent moon. She is the only cat with an actual collar. She also has a little bell. Apparently she is the daughter of Artemis and Luna.
