Background
Hotaru is a shy, reserved, and usually isolated girl without many friends. She is not very social, partly because of an unusual ability to heal wounds. She only has this ability as Hotaru, not as Sailor Saturn. She also becomes exhausted more easily than the average person due to this power. She gave up a part of her strength for the ability.
As Sailor Saturn, Hotaru carries the influence the evil entity Mistress Nine, whose only goal is to destroy all life on earth. At the end of Sailor Moon S she is exorcised by Sailor Moon and Mistress Nine leaves her body. Sailor Saturn's weapon is the Silence Glaive. This is a long pole with a blade on one end. It is extremely deadly and Saturn can use it powerfully in battle.
During Sailor Moon Super S, Hotaru is a baby. This is because she assisted Sailor Moon in saving the world in Sailor Moon S. In Sailor Moon Stars, Hotaru rediscovers her powers and returns to her normal age and appearance. Then she joins the Sailor Senshi in their fight against evil.
